‘An ostracon (Greek ostrakon, plural ostraka) is a piece of pottery (or stone), usually broken off from a vase or other earthenware vessel. In archaeology ostraca may contain scratched-in words or other forms of writing which may give clues as to the time when the piece was in use.’
Museo Egizio in pictures
In April 2019 I visited the Museo Egizio in Turin. It houses the largest collection of Ancient Egyptian artefacts outside of Egypt and did not disappoint. Very honoured to recently learn I will be returning in September as part of the ‘Egyptologists as Museum Curators’ summer school with the University of Pisa.
